Materials

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in white (1001) Colour 1

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in aspen (1422) Colour 2

4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

5 medium buttons

TENSION - 5tr and 2.5 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 4.00mm hook

Coat - (Back) With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 29ch, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (26tr + 3ch)

Pattern Row - Working into back loop of stitch only, make 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end. Turn.

Fasten off. Work Pattern Row in colour sequence as follows:-

# Twice in colour 2. Fasten off

Twice in colour 1. Fasten off #

Rpt from # to # 4 more times or until you have 22 rows worked in all. DNT.

Change to 4.50mm hook, colour 1 and working into row ends along side of work (the side with loose ends of yarn), work 2 slip stitches loosely into each row end to end. Turn. (44 slip stitch)

Next Row - Change to 4.00mm hook, working through both loops of slip stitch, work 1ch, 1dc into each slip stitch to end. Turn. (44dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row until 21 dc rows have been worked or work measures approx 10 inches from beginning. Fasten off.

First Front - With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 29ch, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (26tr + 3ch)

Rpt Pattern Row from back once. Fasten off.

Rpt Pattern Row in colour sequence from # to # twice or until you have 10 rows worked in all. DNT.

Change to 4.50mm hook and working into row ends along side, work 2 slip stitches loosely into each row end to end. Turn. (20 slip stitches)

Next Row - Change to 4.00mm hook, working through both loops of the slip stitches, work 1ch, 1dc into each slip stitch to end. Turn. (20dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row until 12 dc rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Shape Neck - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 15dc, turn leaving remaining 4dc un-worked. (16dc)

Decrease Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc (see abbrev) 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. (15dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last 2 rows twice more. (13dc)

Work 2 more rows in dc making 21dc rows in all and front measures same as back. Fasten off.

Second Front - Rpt same as First Front to shape neck. Fasten off.

Shape Neck - Miss 4dc, rejoin colour 1 to next dc, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 15dc. Turn.

Decrease Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to last 3dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (15dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last 2 rows twice more. (13dc)

Work 2 more rows in dc. Fasten off. (21 dc rows worked)

Sleeves x 2 - With 4.00mm hook and colour 1, make 31ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (28tr + 3ch)

Increase Row - Working into back loop of stitch only make 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to 3ch to turn, 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (30tr + 3ch) Fasten off.

Working Increase Row on ever row, work two rows in colour 2, two rows in colour 1, two rows in colour 2, you should have 42tr + 3ch.

Work Pattern Row twice. Fasten off. (10 rows and sleeve measures approx 4.5 Inches) Fasten off.

Cuff - Using colour 1, join to cast on edge, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. Work 2 more rows in dc. Fasten off. (29dc)

With WS side facing and using 5.00mm hook, ss or over sew shoulder seams together using needle and yarn. Fold sleeves in half lengthways, place centre of sleeve to shoulder seams and ss or over sew into position. Join side and sleeve seam together in same way.

Button/Buttonhole Bands - Working on WS of work with colour 1 and 4.00mm hook, start on lower edge of left hand front edge, make 1ch, work 38dc evenly along first front edge to neck, 3dc into corner, work 12dc evenly along first neck edge to shoulder, 1dc into each of next 18dc across back, 12dc evenly along second neck edge, 3dc into corner, work 38dc evenly down second front edge to end. Turn.

Buttonhole Row - Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into next dc, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 8dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into centre dc of 3dc. Turn. (5 Buttonholes made)

Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each 2ch space and dc to end. Fasten off.

Return to first front edge, (RS) working from neck downwards and starting in centre dc of 3dc, work 2 rows in dc. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.

Bobble Hat - With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 35ch, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (32tr + 3ch)

Rpt Pattern Row from back once. Fasten off.

Rpt Pattern Row from back in colour sequence from # to # 8 times, work Pattern Row twice in colour 2, you should now have 36 rows worked in all. Fasten off.

Fold hat in half (bottom to top), over sew together with needle and yarn the last row worked and cast on edge to make a round. Thread yarn through row ends (yarn ends side), gather and secure tightly to make a crown.

With colour 1 make a pom-pom I used Clover pompom maker number 65

Finishing - Weave in loose ends of yarn and trim, turn through to RS attach

pom-pom to gathered crown and secure, fold approx 1 inch back onto front of hat to make a brim (optional).
