GAUGE - 5dc & 3 rows of dc measures approx 1 Inch using 4.00mm hook

Bodice # - Start with back using 3.50mm hook and contrast color, ch49, (WS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (46dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3.


Next Row (Shape Armholes) - ch1, sl st over first 3st’s, ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to last ch1 space, dc and ch3, work 1dc in ch1 space, turn leaving last dc and ch3 un-worked. # (42dc + ch3)


Back Opening (continue to shape armhole) - ch1, sl st over 3dc, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc * rpt from * to * 6 more times, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, turn leaving 21dc and ch3 un-worked.


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in each ch1 space and dc to last ch1 space, dc and ch3, work 1dc in ch1 space, turn leaving 1dc and ch3 un-worked. (16dc + ch3)


Pattern Row 1 - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Pattern Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 twice each until you have 11 rows in all from beginning. Fasten off.


Return to remaining stitches at opening, skip first dc, rejoin yarn to next dc with a sl st, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc and ch3, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, turn leaving last dc and ch3 un-worked.


Next Row - ch1, sl st over first 3st, ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (16dc + ch3)


Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 three more times each until second side measures same as first side. Fasten off.


Bodice Front - Work the same as for back from # to #. (42dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch1, sl st over first 3dc, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc and ch3, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, turn leaving last dc and ch3 un-worked.

Shape Neck - (Dec Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * three more times, dc2tog over next 2dc (see abbrev). Turn.


Next row - (Dec Row) ch3, dc2tog over next dc and ch1 space, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to last dc and ch3, 1dc in dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (9dc + ch3)


Next Row - (Dec Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * once, ch1, skip 1dc, dc2tog over next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Work Pattern Row 2 from back once. Fasten off. (8dc + ch3)


Second side of neck - With RS facing, return to un-worked dc's, skip 11dc, rejoin yarn with a sl st to next dc, ch3, dc2tog over next 2dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * three more times, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Next row - (Dec Row) ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to last ch1 space, dc and ch3, dc2tog over next ch1 space and dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (9dc + ch3)


Next Row - (Dec Row) ch3, dc2tog over next 2dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * once, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Next row - ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to end, 1dc in top of ch3. (8dc + ch3). Fasten off.


With WS facing join the side and shoulder seams together by slip stitching or over sewing with a needle and yarn, turn through to RS.


Commence Skirt - With 4.00mm hook, and front of bodice facing, rejoin main color yarn under left armhole, working on opposite side of cast on ch, ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in next ch, 2dc in next ch * rpt from * to * around both back and front of bodice, sl st to top of ch3. Turn. (140dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. Turn. Rpt last row until there are 14dc rows worked in all or work measures approx 10 Inches from shoulder. Turn.


Next Row - Working in back loop of stitch only ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Next Row - Working through both loops of stitch ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color yarn, ch1, 1sc in next dc, * skip 1dc, 5dc in next, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off. (35, 5dc groups)


Return to row of loose loops around skirt, join in contrast color yarn on side edge in top of ch3, using 4.00mm hook ch1, * skip 1dc, 5dc in next, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Sleeves x 2 - With 3.50mm hook and main color ch43, sl st to first ch to form a ring, (WS) ch3, 1dc in each ch to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (42dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, ch1, skip last dc, sl st to top of ch3. Turn.


Shape Top - (Dec Row) ch1, sl st in base of ch1, sl st over next 4st, ch3, work 1dc in each ch1 space and dc to last 4st’s, turn leaving last 4st’s un-worked. (34dc + ch3)


Next Row - (Dec Row) ch1, sl st in base of ch1, sl st over next 3dc, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc and ch3, 1dc in next dc, turn leaving last 2dc and ch3 un-worked.


Next Row - (Dec Row) ch1, sl st in base of ch1, sl st over next 2st's, ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to last ch1 space, 1dc and ch3, 1dc in ch1 space, turn leaving 1dc and ch3 un-worked.

Keeping pattern rows correct, rpt last 2 rows until 8 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Fasten off. (7dc, five ch1 spaces + ch3)


Cuff - (Dec Row) Working on opposite side of cast on ch, with RS facing, join in contrast color yarn ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next ch * dec 1sc (see abbrev) over next ch2, 1sc in each of next ch2, * rpt from * to * to last ch, 1sc in last ch, sl st to first sc. Turn. (33sc)


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Rpt last row three more times. Fasten off.


Edge Back Opening - Using 3.50mm hook and with RS facing, join contrast color yarn to base of back opening, work 2sc in each of the next 7 row ends, 1sc in last row end (15sc), 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each of next 7dc along top of back, 8sc evenly down first side of neck, 1sc in each of the next 11dc across front, 8sc evenly up second side of neck, 1sc in each of the next 7dc along top of back to corner, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in next row end, 2sc in each of the next 7 row ends (15sc). Turn.


Next Row - (Buttonhole Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc around neck to next corner, 1sc in corner * ch2 skip 1sc, 1sc in next 4sc, * rpt from * to * (2 more times), 1sc in last sc. Fasten off. (3 buttonholes made)


Chain Tie - Using contrast color yarn and 3.50mm hook ch151, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off. (to make longer add more ch's)


Finishing - Sew sleeves in position. Sew in ends and tie off. Sew on

buttons to correspond with buttonholes, thread chain tie through alternate dc’s under bodice and tie in a bow.


Bonnet - (Worked in rounds without turning until 7th row) -

With main color yarn, make magic circle, using 3.50mm hook ch3, work 16dc in ring, pull loose thread to close circle, sl st to top of ch3. (16dc +ch3)


2nd Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 (33dc + ch3)


3rd Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc in last dc, sl st to top of ch3. (44dc + ch3)


4th Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of next 4dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3. (53dc + ch3)


5th Row - (Inc Row) ch3, * 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of next 5dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3. (62dc + ch3)


6th Row - (Inc Row) ch3, * 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of next 7dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 7dc, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of last 6dc, sl st to top of ch3. (70dc + ch3)

8th Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc and ch1 space to end, 1dc in top of ch3.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 from bodice twice, until there are 12 rows in all from beginning. Turn.


Front of Bonnet - Working through back loop of stitch only, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. (69sc)


Next Row - Work through both loops, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Starting with ch1, work two more rows in sc. Turn.


Front & Neck Edging - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, working along neck edge, work 15sc evenly in row ends, 1sc in each of next 2dc, work 15sc evenly in row ends, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc along neck edge and around front of bonnet, working 3sc in corners, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.


Front Trim - With front of bonnet towards you and working in row of loose loops, rejoin contrast color to first loop, ch1, work 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1 loop, 5dc in next loop, skip 1 loop, 1sc in next loop, * rpt from * to * to last 3 loops, skip 1 loop, 5dc in next loop, 1sc in last loop. Fasten off.


Chain Tie - Using contrast color yarn and 3.50mm hook ch141, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn. Thread chain tie through alternate dc’s along neck edge of bonnet and tie in a bow.
