Working left to right, work sc backwards.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

Finished size approx:  32 Inches x 32 Inches

Materials

300 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Saffron (1081) Colour 1

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in White (1001) Colour 2

OR

10.5oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in Color 1

3.5oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in Color 2

5.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 5dc and 2 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 4.50mm hook

With 5.00mm hook and color 1 ch115, change to 4.50mm hook, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, * skip ch2, 3dc in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last ch3, skip ch2, 2dc in last ch. Turn. (36, 3dc groups)

Pattern Row 1 -

ch3, * 1dc in next 2dc, work 1dc around the posts of the last 2dc worked, (see pic) skip 1dc, * rpt from * to * to ch3 to turn with, work 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * skip 3dc, work 3dc in space between next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, skip 3dc, 2dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Rows 1 & 2 form the pattern, rpt both rows until 61 rows have been worked from the beginning. Turn.

Edging - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc across, 3sc in top of ch3, working down the first side of blanket, work 2sc in each row end to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in ch along cast on edge to corner, 3sc in corner, working up the second side of blanket, work 2sc in each row end to corner, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc. Turn. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end and 3sc in each of the corners, 1sc in last corner, sl st to first sc. Turn. Rpt last row once.

Next Row - ch1, 2hdc in base of ch1, work 1hdc in each sc to end and 3hdc in each of the corners, 1hdc in last corner, sl st to first hdc. Turn.

Work two more rows in sc, working 3sc in corners, turn and sl st to first sc on beginning of rows. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in color 1, work one row of sc. Turn.

Work one row of crab stitch (see abbrev) Fasten off.

Flower - (Made in rounds without turning) With color 1 and 4.50mm hook ch4, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch1, work 12sc in ring, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Row 2 - Join in color 2 with a sl st, * ch10, skip 1sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, ch10, skip last sc, sl st to first sl st. (6, 10ch spaces)

Row 3 - * sl st in 10ch space, work (ch3, 5dc, ch2, 6dc) in same space, sl st to next sl st, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sl st. Fasten off. (6 petals)

Row 4 - Join in color 1 with a sl st to top of sl st, * 1sc in top of ch3, 1sc in each of next 5dc, (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch2 space, 1sc in each of next 6dc, sl st in sl st, * rpt from * to * to end. sl st to first sl st. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, attach flower to a corner.
