3 Medium, 2 Small and 7 pearl buttons

1.5 mtrs of 6mm wide satin ribbon (approx)


TENSION - 9tr & 5 rows of tr measures approx. 2” square using a 4.00mm hook.

Start with Yoke (worked in one piece).


Using 4.00mm hook, make 55ch (RS), work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch, (back), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 17ch, (front), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch, (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch, (back). Turn. (60tr + 3ch)


2nd Row - 3ch, 1tr into the next 8tr, 3tr into next tr, 1tr into next 10tr, 3tr into next tr, 1tr into the next 19tr, 3tr into next tr, 1tr into the next 10tr, 3tr into the next tr, 1tr into the next 8tr, 1tr top of 3ch. Turn. (68tr + 3ch)


3rd Row - 3ch, 1tr into the next 9tr, 3tr into next tr, 1tr into next 12tr, 3tr into next tr, 1tr into the next 21tr, 3tr into next tr, 1tr into the next 12tr, 3tr into the next tr, 1tr into the next 9tr, 1tr top of 3ch. Turn. (76tr + 3ch)

Commence Skirt - (Divide for Armholes)


Using 4.50mm hook, make 3ch, 1 shell (see abbrev) into next tr, * miss 1tr, 1 shell into next tr, * rpt from * to * 7 more times, miss 1tr, work 2tr, 1ch into next tr, miss next 28tr, work 2tr into next tr, rpt from * to * 18 more times, miss 1tr, work 2tr, 1ch into next tr, miss 28tr, work 2tr into next tr, miss 1tr, rpt from * to * 9 more times, 1tr into top of 3ch, ss to top of 3ch on the beginning of row. Turn. (38 shell groups including 2 under arms)


1st Row - ss to first 1ch space on shell, 5ch, 1tr into same 1ch space, work 1vst (see abbrev) into centre of each shell to end, ss to 3rd of 5ch on

beginning of row. Turn. (38vst)


2nd Row - ss to 2ch space on first vst, work (3ch, 1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same 2ch space, 1 shell into each 2ch space of vst to end, ss to top of 3ch on

beginning of row. Turn.


The last 2 rows form pattern, rpt both 1st & 2nd Pattern Rows until 17 rows have been worked in all from yoke. Work 1st Row of pattern once. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, * work (1dc, 5tr, 1dc) into 2ch space on vst, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off. You should now have 19 pattern rows worked in all.


Sleeves x 2 -

With 4.50mm hook and with RS facing, rejoin yarn to side of tr on skirt under arm, 3ch, 1tr into each tr around sleeve, 1tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to top of 3ch. DNT. (29tr + 3ch)


Start with 1ch, working left to right work one row of crab stitch (see abbrev), ss to first st on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Back Borders -

Starting at lower edge on right hand back edge, with RS facing and 4.00mm hook, rejoin yarn to side of tr on first row of skirt, make 1ch, 1dc into same space, work 16 more dc evenly up back edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck edge, 3dc into corner, 17dc evenly down left back edge. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to neck edge. Turn. Rpt last row once working from neck edge down to end. Fasten off.


Buttonholes -

Return to first side of back edge, with 4.00mm hook rejoin yarn to centre dc on neck edge, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 7dc, * rpt from * to * once more, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each 2ch space and dc to end. Fasten off.


Crab Stitch Edge -

Using 4.50mm hook, RS facing rejoin yarn to lower back edge on button band, starting with 1ch and working left to right, work one row of crab stitch up first back edge, around neck and down second back edge, working 3st into corners. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gap under arms, sew in and tie off ends, sew on medium buttons to correspond with buttonholes, thread ribbon in two halves from back to front of dress and tie with a bow, secure loose ends of ribbon on back of dress on the WS side.


Bonnet - (Worked in continuous rounds without turning until round 5)


With 4.00mm hook, make 8ch, join with ss to form a ring(RS) 3ch, work 15tr into ring, ss to top of 3ch


Round 2 - 3ch, 1tr in base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch. (31tr + 3ch)


Round 3 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * 1tr into next tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 1tr into last tr, ss to top of 3ch. (47tr + 3ch)


Round 4 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * 1tr into each of the next 3tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, 1tr each of last 3tr, ss to top of 3ch. (59tr + 3ch)


Round 5 - 3ch, 1tr into each of next 6tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next 7tr, * rpt from * to * to last 5tr, turn leaving last 5tr un-worked. (60tr + 3ch)


Next Round - 3ch, 1tr in each tr to end. Turn. Rpt last row 7 more times, making 13tr rows in all from beginning. Turn.


Brim -

Change to 3.50mm hook, working through back loop of stitch only work 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


1st Row - Working through both loops from now on make 3ch, * miss 2tr, vst into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch to turn with, miss 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (19vst)


2nd Row - 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * work (1dc, 5tr, 1dc) into next 2ch space, * rpt from * to * to end, ss into top of 3ch. Turn. Fasten off. (19 Groups)


Turn back brim onto RS of bonnet. With 4.50mm hook, RS facing and working left to right, work one row of crab stitch into loose loops on base of brim (front of bonnet).Fasten off.


With 4.00mm hook starting from front edge make 3ch, work one row of tr stitch evenly along neck edge catching in brim on both sides as you go. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through alternate tr’s along neck edge and tie in a bow.


Shoes x 2 -

With 3.50mm hook make 12ch, (RS) 3htr in 4th ch from hook, 1htr into each of next 7ch, 8htr into last ch, working on opposite side of cast on ch, work 1htr into each of next 7ch, 4htr into last ch, ss to top of the 3ch on beginning of row. DNT. (29htr + 3ch)


Round Two - 2ch, work 2htr into each of next 3htr, 1htr into each of next 9htr, 2htr into each of next 6htr, 1htr into each of next 9htr, 2htr into each of last 2htr, 1htr into base of 2ch, ss to top of 2ch. DNT. (41htr + 2ch)


Round Three - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to end, ss to first dc. DNT. (42dc)


Round Four - Working in back loop of stitch only, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. Turn.


Round Five - Working through both loops from now on make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Instep -

Using 3.50mm hook, WS facing and counting from where you fastened off, miss 10dc, rejoin yarn to next dc, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next 21dc, turn leaving 10dc un-worked. (22dc)


Next Row - (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (see abbrev) 10 times, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (12dc)


Next Row - (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc in base of 1ch, (dec 1dc over next 2dc) 5 times, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (7dc)


Next Row - (Dec Row) 1ch, insert hook and pull up loop from each dc, yrh, pull through 8 loops on hook to close, make 1ch. Fasten off.


Right Ankle strap -

With 3.50mm hook make 15ch, 1htr into 6th ch from hook, 1htr into next 9ch, working on WS, miss first 2dc after first side instep on right hand side of shoe, (see picture).









Work 1htr into each of  next 16dc (around back of shoe), turn leaving 2dc

un-worked before second side of instep. Turn.


Next Row - Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to end, 1dc into top of 5ch. Fasten off.


Left Ankle strap - Make 10ch. Fasten off (will come back to).


With 3.50mm hook working on WS, miss 2dc after first side of instep on right hand side of shoe, (same place as first shoe) make 2ch, work 1htr into each of next 15dc (around back of shoe) return to 10ch made earlier and work 1htr into each of the 10ch, make 5ch, ss into last of 10ch, (buttonhole). Turn. ss into each of the 5ch, then 1dc into each of the next 25htr, 1htr into top of 2ch. Fasten off.


With 4.50mm hook and RS facing, working left to right, work one row of crab stitch evenly around and into loose loops on soles of shoes. Fasten off.


Finishing - Attach the loose end of each strap to shoes. Sew in and tie off strands of yarn, sew small buttons on to side of shoes and fasten through the 5ch loops.


Flower Motif x 7 -

Make magic circle, using 3.50mm hook make 1ch, work 12dc into circle, close circle with loose thread of yarn, ss to first dc. DNT.


Next Row - 1ch, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (6 Petals)


Finishing - Using loose strands of yarn, sew one pearl button to each flower motif (7) and then attach one to the front of each shoe, three across bodice on dress and one to each side of bonnet, Sew in and tie off any loose ends.
