Abbreviations

WS.    Wrong Side

ch.     Chain

dc.     Double Crochet

tr.       Treble Crochet

rpt.     Repeat

ss.      Slip Stitch

pc.    Popcorn

Work 5tr into next tr,

drop the loop from your hook,

insert hook from front to back

through top of first tr,

pick up dropped loop from 5th tr

and pull through.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Size to Fit approx:  6-12 Months  

Materials

Small amounts of Stylecraft Special DK in Colours 1 & 2

(use up those oddments of yarn)

5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

Headband - With colour 1 and 5.00mm hook make 60ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, change to 4.00mm hook, (WS) make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (60dc)

With WS facing turn your work so you are working along the opposite side of the starting ch, (you may have to do a ss between rows) make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (60dc)

Flower - Using colour 1, make a magic circle, with 4.00mm hook (WS) work 1ch, 16dc into circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off. Turn. (16dc)

Row 2 - Join in colour 2 with a ss to first dc, make 3ch, work 4tr into base of 3ch, drop loop, insert hook from front to back through top of 3ch you just made, pick up dropped loop from 4th tr and pull through, * make 3ch, miss 1dc, 1pc into next tr, (see abbrev) * rpt from * to * to last dc, make 3ch, miss dc, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (8pc)

Row 3 - make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 4dc into 3ch space, 1dc into top of pc, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch space, 4dc into space, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (40dc)

Row 4 - Join in colour 1, work * (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into next dc, miss 1dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row.  Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off, attach flower over ss seam on headband.
