Matinee Coat Worked in one piece starting with the yoke -


Using 4.00mm hook and colour 1 make 55ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr in each ch to end. Fasten off. Turn. (52tr + 3ch)


Row Two - (Inc Row) Join in colour 2, make 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into last tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (65tr + 3ch)


Row Three - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Row Four - (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr and 3ch, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (81tr + 3ch)

Commence with Skirt - 3ch, miss 1tr, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) (group) into next tr, * 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook (picot made), miss 3tr, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (23 groups)

Rpt Pattern Row until 12 group rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 10.5 inches from shoulder. Fasten off.


Sleeves - With RS facing join yarn to side of tr underarm, make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 26tr around armhole, 1tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.


Row 2 - 3ch, miss 1tr, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into next tr, * 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, miss 3tr, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss 1tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (7 groups)


Row 3 - 3ch, 1 group into 1ch space of next group, * 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, 1 group into 1ch space of next group, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch at beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Row 3 until 10 group rows have been worked in all or underarm seam measures approx 5 inches. Fasten off.


Button/Buttonhole Bands

With RS facing, join colour 2 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 43dc evenly up front edge to corner. Turn.


Buttonhole Row - Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 6dc * rpt from * to * once, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into remaining dc. Fasten off. Turn. (3 Buttonholes made)


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work one more row of 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end. Fasten off.


Button Band - Working from neck downwards, join colour 2 to second front edge, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 43dc evenly down front to corner. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work two more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.


Beanie - (Made in rounds without turning throughout) With colour 1, make 6ch and join with a ss to form a ring, work 3ch, 13tr into ring, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.


Second Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr in each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (27tr + 3ch)


Third Row - 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 2tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (41tr + 3ch)


Fourth Row - 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 2tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (55tr + 3ch)


Fifth Row - 3ch, 1tr into each of next 6tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 7tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 2tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (62tr + 3ch)

Rows 11 & 12 - Join in colour 1, work rows same as Row 6. Fasten off.


Boots x 2 - With colour 1 make 24ch loosely, ss to first ch to make a ring (RS) work 3ch, 1tr into each ch to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row (23tr + 3ch). Fasten off. Turn.


Instep - Miss 8tr join colour 2 to 9th tr, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 7tr. Turn. (8dc)


Next row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn. Rpt last row until 8 rows in all have been worked. Fasten off.


Shape Sole - With WS facing return to back seam where you casted off at ankle, (—––– see picture below)








Join in colour 1 and work 3ch, 1tr into next 7tr along first half of ankle, 8tr evenly into row ends along first side of instep, 1tr into each of next 8dc along toe, 8tr evenly into row ends along second side of instep, 1tr into each of next 8tr along second half of ankle, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (39tr + 3ch)


2nd Row - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.


3rd Row - Working into front loop only, # make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (40dc)


4th Row (Dec Row) - Working through both loops from now on, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, dec 1dc (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc into each of the next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Top - Working along cast on edge and with WS facing, join colour 1 to back seam, work 3ch, miss 1tr, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into next tr, * 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, miss 3tr, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss 1tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (6 groups)


Next Row - 3ch, 1 group into 1ch space of next group, * 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, 1 group into 1ch space of next group, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch at beginning of row. Fasten off.


Rosebud x 4 - With colour 1 make 15ch, work 2htr into 3rd ch from hook, miss 1ch, 3htr into next ch, (twice), miss 1ch, 3tr into next ch, (three times), miss 1ch, ss into last ch. Fasten off.


Roll from htr to tr's to make rosebud shape, secure at the back with loose ends of yarn.


Finishing

Coat - Close small gaps under arm, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, attach a rosebud to yoke.


Beanie - Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn, attach a rosebud to colour 2 stripe.


Boots - Over sew with needle and yarn the gap on the sole of the boot. weave in all ends and trim. Turn through to RS, attach 1 rosebud to front of each boot.
