Pattern Row - 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, * miss 1htr, 2htr into next htr, * rpt from

With WS facing, using 5.00mm hook and main colour yarn, ss or over sew with needle and yarn the shoulder seams together.


Back Opening and Neck Edging - With RS facing and 4.00mm hook, join main colour yarn to base of back opening on right hand side, make 1ch, working into row ends, work 14dc evenly up first side of back opening to neck edge, 3dc into corner, work 17dc evenly around and down first side of front neck edge, 1dc into each of next 12htr, work 17dc evenly up and around second side of front edge

to next corner, 3dc into corner, 14dc evenly into row ends down second side of back opening. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour yarn, make 1ch, 1dc into each dc up back

edge to corner, 1dc into corner, make 31ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end, 1dc into same corner, 1dc into each dc around neck to next corner, 1dc into corner, work 31ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end, 1dc into same corner, 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off. DNT.


With 4.00mm hook, rejoin main colour yarn, working left to right work 1 row of

crab stitch (see abbrev) up first back edge, around neck and down second back edge. Fasten off.


Bib Border - With RS of work facing and 4.00mm hook, join main colour yarn to centre st on cast on edge of back, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to corner, 3dc into corner, work 74dc evenly into row ends along back and front of bib to next corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge on front

of bib to next corner, 3dc into corner, work 74dc evenly into row ends along front and back of bib to next corner, work 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of remaining

ch across to center back, ss to first dc. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around bib to end, working 3dc into all four corners, ss to first dc. Fasten off. DNT.


Next Row - Working from left to right with main colour yarn work one row of crab stitch all around sides of bib working 2 stitches into each corner. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn.


Flower Motif - Make 3 in main colour and 1 in contrast colour

Made in continuous rounds without turning. Make a magic circle, With 4.00mm hook, make 1ch, work 12dc into circle, pull loose thread to close circle, ss to first dc.


Next Row - 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * 4tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc, work 4tr into last dc, ss to first ss. Fasten off. (6, 4tr groups)

 

Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends, sew contrast colour flower motif over main colour on centre and front of the bib, sew main colour motifs evenly along onto band of contrast colour, decorate each one with a ribbon rosebud.


Replace flowers with cars if for a boy








Car Motif x 2 - With 4.00mm hook and a contrast colour, make 13ch, 1dc into second ch from hook, 1dc into ch to end. Turn. (12dc) Work three more rows in dc, making 4 rows in all.. Fasten off. Turn.


Next Row - Miss first 4dc, rejoin yarn to next dc, 6ch, miss 2dc, 1dtr into each of next 2dc, 4ch, miss 2dc, 1tr into last dc. Turn.


Edge - Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 4dc into 4ch space, 1dc into each of next 2dtr, 6dc into 6ch space, 1dc into next 4dc, working down side of car, work 1dc into each of next 4 row ends, 1dc into each of 12 cast on chains, working up second side of car, work 1dc into each of next 4 row ends, 2dc around side of tr, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Wheels x 4 (2 for each car) - With 4.00mm hook and black yarn, make 4ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, work 8dc into ring, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn attach car motifs over band of contrast colour on front of bib.
