50 grams of King Cole big value baby 4 ply in Colour 1
Small amount of Baby 4ply in Colour 2
3.50mm crochet hook
8 buttons
TENSION - 5tr and 3 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Nappy Cover - With colour 1 make 68ch, (RS) work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into
each ch to end. Turn. (65tr + 3ch)
2nd Row - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until 10 rows have been worked from beginning. Fasten off. Turn.
Shape Crotch - Miss 23tr, join yarn to next tr, make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 19tr,
turn leaving remaining 22tr and 3ch to turn with un-worked. (19tr + 3ch)
Decrease Row - 3ch, tr2tog (see abbrev) over next 2tr, 1tr into each tr to last 2tr
and 3ch, tr2tog over next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (17tr + 3ch)
Rpt Decrease Row until 13tr + 3ch remain. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row once. Turn.
Rpt Decrease Row once (11tr + 3ch)
Rpt 2nd Row four more times.
Increase Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 2tr into top of
3ch. Turn. (13tr + 3ch)
Rpt 2nd Row once. Turn.
Rpt Increase Row until you have 19tr + 3ch remaining. Fasten off. Turn. (19tr + 3ch)
Front Flap - Make 6ch, work 1tr into each of next 19tr, 1tr into top of 3ch, make
8ch, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each of next 4ch, 1tr into each of
next 20tr, 1tr into each of next 6ch. Turn. (31tr + 3ch)
Rpt 2nd Row nine more times. Fasten off.
Border - With RS facing rejoin colour 1 to cast on edge, work 1ch, 1dc into base
of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 64ch, 3dc into corner, 2dc into each row end, 3dc into
corner, 1dc into each of next 22tr, * work 2dc into next row end, 1dc into next row
end, * rpt from * to * to end of crotch, 1dc into each of next 5ch, 3dc into corner,
2dc into each row end, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of next 30tr, 3dc into corner,
2dc into each row end, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of next 5ch, rpt from * to
* to end of crotch, 1dc into each of next 22tr, 3dc into corner, 2dc into each row
end, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc all around nappy cover to
end, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc. Fasten off.
Join in colour 2 and rpt last row once. Fasten off.
Chain Tie - Using colour 1, make 150ch. Fasten off.
Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie through alternate tr's
on waist and tie in a bow. Sew 3 buttons evenly down each side of main piece on cover,
fold flap over buttons and use gaps between tr's on front flap as buttonholes.
Hat - With colour 1, make 6ch and join with a ss to form a ring, work 3ch, 13tr into
ring, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Second Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr in each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on
beginning of row. Turn. (27tr + 3ch).
Third Row - 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last
tr, 2tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (41tr + 3ch).
Fourth Row - 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr,
* rpt from * to * to last tr, 2tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.
Turn. (55tr + 3ch)
Fifth Row - 3ch, 1tr into each of next 6tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of
next 7tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 2tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning
of row. Turn. (62tr + 3ch)
Sixth Row - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Sixth Row until 12 rows have been worked from beginning. Turn.
Thirteenth Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first
dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in colour 2 and rpt Thirteenth Row once. Fasten off.
Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim. Attach 2 buttons to front of
hat for decoration.
