Sweater Back - # With 5.00mm hook ch46 loosely, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (43dc + ch3)


Rib - ch3, * fpdc in next dc, bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (see abbrev for fpdc & bpdc)


Rpt last row twice. Turn.


Next Row - (Inc) ch3, (RS) 1dc in each dc to last dc and ch3 to turn with, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (44dc + ch3)

Shoulder Fastener - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 11dc. Turn. (12sc)


Work 2 more rows in sc on these 12 stitches. Turn.


Next Row (Buttonholes) - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next sc, ch2, skip next sc, 1sc in each of next 6sc, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in last 2sc. Turn. (2 buttonholes made)

 

Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to end. Turn.


Work 1 more row of 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.


Sweater Front - Rpt from # to # on back of sweater.


Rpt Pattern Rows 1 to 4 until 18 rows have been worked in all from Rib or work measures approx 8 Inches. Turn.


Shape Neck (Side 1) Keeping continuity of pattern as set throughout neck shaping - ch3, 1dc over each of next 13st's. Turn. (13dc + ch3)


Rpt last row once.


Next Row (Dec Row) - ch3, 1dc over each of next 10st's, dc2tog (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (12dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, bpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in next dc, pc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, bpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Next Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 2dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each dc to ch3 to turn with, 2dc in top of ch3. Turn. (26dc + ch3)


1st Pattern Row - ch3, 1dc in each of next 9dc, bpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, bpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

 

2nd Pattern Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each dc to first post dc, work fpdc around next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, fpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each dc to end, 2dc in top of ch3. Turn. (28dc + ch3)


Continue in pattern as set, increasing 1dc each end of ever alternate row until 36dc + ch3 remain, 11 rows have been worked in all from Rib or work measures 5.5 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.


With WS side facing and 5.00mm hook, join right hand side shoulder seam together by slip stitching loosely or over sewing with a needle and yarn, leave left shoulder seam open (the side with extra rows on back for fold over and buttonholes), fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing centre folds to shoulder, over sew with needle and yarn or slip stitch loosely in position. Join side and sleeve seams together by over sew or slip stitch.


Neck Edge - Using 4.00mm hook with RS facing and starting on side of open shoulder, work 10sc down front edge, 17sc across front, 10sc up second front edge, 1sc in each of 21sc along back. Turn. (58sc)


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 30sc, dec 1sc (see abbrev) over next 2sc, 1sc in each of next 15sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Work one more row of 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.


Finishing - Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes on shoulders and fasten.
