55 grams of King Cole big value baby DK Yarn

4.00mm crochet hook

4 buttons


TENSION - 4tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Back - Make 35ch loosely, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (32tr + 3ch)

 

2nd Row - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Rpt last row until 14 rows have been worked in all from beginning or work measures approx 6 Inches. Fasten off.


Right Front - # Make 18ch loosely, (RS) vst (see abbrev) into 4th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, vst into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 5ch, miss 2ch, vst into next ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (5 vst)

 

Row 2 - 3ch, vst into 1ch space of each vst to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Rpt Row 2 until 11 rows have been worked in all from beginning. #

 

Shape Neck - 3ch, vst into 1ch space of each of next 4 vst, 1tr into 1ch space of next vst. Turn. (4 vst)

 

Next Row - ss to first 1ch space, 3ch, work vst into 1ch space of each of next 3 vst, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Rpt Row 2 once. Fasten off. (3 vst)

 

Left Front - Rpt from # to # on Right Front. Turn.


Shape Neck - ss to 1ch space on first vst, make 3ch, work vst into 1ch space on each of next 4 vst to end, 1tr into to top of 3ch. Turn. (4 vst)


Next Row - 3ch, vst into 1ch space of each of next 3 vst, 1tr into 1ch space of next vst. Turn.


Rpt Row 2 once. Fasten off. (3 vst)


Sleeves x 2 - Make 25ch loosely, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (22tr + 3ch)


Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Rpt last row until you have 32tr + 3ch remaining and 6 rows have been worked from beginning. Fasten off.


Cuff - With RS facing rejoin yarn to starting ch, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (23dc)


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 2 rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Fasten off.

 

With WS facing join shoulder seams, fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing folds to shoulder seams sew sleeves into position. Join side and sleeve seams. (see pic)









Front Edging - With RS facing and starting at lower edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work dc evenly into row ends up first front to neck edge, 3dc into corner, work dc evenly around neck, 3dc into corner, dc evenly into row ends down second front, 3dc into corner, dc into each ch along starting chain, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Buttonhole Row - Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc along bottom of cardigan, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc up first front, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc around neck, 2dc into corner, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 5dc, * rpt from * to * twice, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of remaining dc, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (4 buttonholes made)


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc and 2ch spaces around cardigan to end, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

 

Finishing - Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
