Materials
670 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Cream (046)
OR
24oz of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn
7.00mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks
GAUGE - 1 pattern repeat and 2 rows of pattern measures approx 1"

With 7.00mm hook ch153, change to 5.00mm hook, 1 shell (see abbrev) in 4th ch from
hook, * skip 2ch, 1 shell in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, skip 1ch, 1dc
in last ch. Turn. (50 shell groups).
1st Row - ch3, 1vst (see abbrev) in ch1 space of each shell to end, 1dc in top of
ch3. Turn. (50vst).
2nd Row - ch3, 1 shell in each ch2 space of vst to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.
The last 2 rows form pattern, rpt both 1st & 2nd Pattern Rows 41 more times each
until 85 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 42 Inches from beginning.
Turn.
Shawl Edging - With WS facing, work ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, skip 1dc,
* 1sc in (dc, ch1 space and dc), skip 2dc, * rpt from * to * to ch3 to turn with,
3sc in top of ch3, working down the first side of the shawl in row ends, work 170sc
evenly along to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each chain along cast on edge, 3sc
in corner, working up the second side of the shawl, work 170sc evenly in row ends
along to corner, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.
Next Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each sc around all four sides of shawl,
working 3dc’s in each corner, 1dc in base of ch3, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning
of row. DNT.
Working from Left to right ch1, work one row of crab stitch (see abbrev) around all
four sides of shawl, working 3 crab stitches in each corner, sl st to first sc. Fasten
off.
Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends.
It's optional but you can if you wish thread ribbon through alternate dc's and tie
in a bow on a corner.
