With 4.00mm hook ch57, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in the next 6ch, (front) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch, (shoulder) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 19ch, (back) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch, (shoulder) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch. (front) Turn. (62dc + ch3)


Rows 2 to 10 - ch3, * 1dc in each dc to 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in centre dc on 3dc group, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in centre dc on 3dc group, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3.


You should have 134dc + ch3 at the end of Row 10.


Row 11 - (Divide for Armholes) ch3, 1dc in each dc to centre dc of 3dc group, 1dc in centre dc, skip 28dc, 1dc in each dc to centre dc of next 3dc group, 1dc in centre dc, skip 28dc, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (78dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * skip 2dc, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next dc, rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3 to turn with, skip last 2dc, 2dc in top of ch3. Turn. (25 Groups)


Pattern Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch2 space, * skip 2dc and sc, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to end, skip 3dc, 2dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Row until 14 rows have been worked from division or work measures approx 10.5 inches from shoulder. Fasten off.


Sleeves x 2 - With RS side facing join yarn to side of dc under arm with a sl st, ch3, 1dc in each of next 28dc, 1dc in side of dc on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (29dc + ch3)


Next Row - ch3, (1dc, ch2, 1sc) in base of ch3, * skip 2dc, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next dc, rpt from * to * to last 2dc, skip last 2dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (10 Groups)


Pattern Row - sl st to first ch2 space, ch3, (1dc, ch2, 1sc) in same ch2 space, * skip 2dc and sc, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch2 space, rpt from * to * to end, skip 1dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Row until 12 rows have been worked from division or under arm sleeve seam measures approx 5 inches. Fasten off.


Button/Buttonhole Bands - Using 3.50mm hook with RS facing and starting at lower edge on right hand side of coat, work 2sc in each row end up first front edge to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each stitch around neck to next corner, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row end down second front edge to end. Turn.


Button Band - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc along front edge to end. Turn. Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.


Buttonhole Band - Return to neck edge on first front edge, working from neck downwards ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Buttonhole Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 6sc, * rpt from * to * twice, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in remaining sc. Fasten off. (4 buttonholes made).


Finishing - Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, decorate with ribbon bow.
