100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Pomegranate (1083) Colour 2

3.5oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in Color 2
5.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hook
3 novelty buttons
Motif (optional)
GAUGE - 5dc and 2 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 5.00mm hook

Cardigan - (Worked in one piece, starting with yoke)
Using 5.00mm hook and color 2 ch55, (WS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in the next
6ch’s (front), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch’s (shoulder), 3dc in next ch, 1dc
in the next 17ch’s (back), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch’s. (shoulder), 3dc
in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch’s (front). Fasten off. Turn. (60dc + ch3)
Join in color 1
2nd Row - (Inc Row) ch3, * 1dc in each dc to next 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc
in centre dc of 3dc group, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc
in centre dc of 3dc group, 1dc in each dc to ch3 to turn with, work 1dc in top of
ch3. Turn. (68dc + ch3)
3rd to 6th Row - rpt 2nd Row. Turn. (100dc + ch3)
7th Row - (Increase & Divide for Armholes) - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc,
1dc in next dc,* rpt from * to * to centre dc of the first 3dc group, 2dc in centre
dc, ch1, skip next 20dc, 1dc in centre dc of next 3dc group, rpt from * to * to centre
of next 3dc group, ch1, skip next 20dc, rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3,
Turn. (89dc, 2, ch1 spaces + ch3)
8th Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 21dc, 1sc in ch1 space, 1sc
in each of next 46dc, 1sc in ch1 space, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. (92sc)
Change to 4.50mm hook.
Commence Skirt - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, skip 1sc * (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in next sc,
skip 2sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, skip 1sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (30 groups)
Row 2 - ch5, * (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in centre dc of group, ch2, * rpt from * to * to last
group and sc, (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in centre dc of group, ch2, 1dc in sc. Turn.
Row 3 - (group row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, skip ch2, work * (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in
next ch2 space between sc’s, skip ch2, * rpt from * to * to end, 1sc in 3rd of ch5.
Turn.
Rpt Rows 2 & 3 until 9 group rows have been worked or work measures 10.5 Inches from
shoulder. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in color 2 and work Rows 2 & 3 once. Fasten off.
Sleeves x 2 - With WS facing and 5.00mm hook, rejoin color 1 to side of dc at base
of armhole, ch3, work 1dc in same space, 1dc in each of the next 20dc, 2dc in side
of dc on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. Turn.
(23dc + ch3)
Next Round - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc on
beginning of round. Turn. (24sc)
Change to 4.50mm hook.
Round 1 - ch1, * (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in base of ch1, skip 2sc, * rpt from * to * to last
2sc, skip 2sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of round. Turn. (8 groups)
Round 2 - ch5, * (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in centre dc of group, ch2, * rpt from * to * to
end, sl st to 3rd of ch5 on beginning of round. Turn.
Round 3 - (group round) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, skip ch2, work * (1sc, 3dc, 1sc)
in next ch2 space between sc’s, skip ch2, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first
sc on beginning of round. Turn.
Rpt Rounds 2 & 3 until 5 group rounds have been worked or sleeve seam measures approx
4.5 inches. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in color 2 and work Rounds 2 & 3 once. Fasten off.
Coat Edging - With RS facing, color 2 and starting at lower edge on first front,
work 42sc evenly along to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch around neck to next
corner, 3sc in corner, 42sc evenly down second front edge to end. Turn.
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once.
Fasten off.
Buttonholes - (Written for a girl, swap sides for a boy) Return to first front edge,
with WS facing and working from neck edge downwards rejoin color 2 to first sc, ch1,
1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 1sc, work 1sc in each of next 6sc, * rpt from * to
* once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to end. Fasten
off.
Chain Tie - With 4.50mm hook and color 2 ch130. Fasten off.
Using color 2, make 2 pom poms, I used the Clover Pom Pom maker size 25
Finishing - Close small gap under both armholes, weave in and trim off any loose
ends of yarn, turn through to RS, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes,
thread chain tie through alternate dc's underarms, attach pom pom to each end and
tie in a bow.
Short Pants - With 5.00mm hook and color 2, ch84, sl st to first ch to form a round,
change to 4.50mm hook, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each ch to end, sl st to first
sc on beginning of round. Turn. (84sc)
Next Round - ch1, work (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in base of ch1, * skip 2sc, (1sc, 3dc, 1sc)
in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, skip 2sc, sl st to first sc on beginning
of row. Turn. (28 groups)
Rpt Pattern Rounds 2 & 3 from sleeves until 8 group rounds have been worked or work
measures 6 Inches from waist. Turn.
Legs - Work Pattern Round 2 over next 14 groups, sl st to 3rd of ch5 on beginning
of round. Turn.
Work Pattern Round 3 once. Turn.
Work Pattern Rounds 2 & 3 once. Fasten off.
You can rpt more Pattern Rounds for longer legs if you wish.
Return and rejoin yarn in space between the 2 groups at the division of legs, continue
with Pattern Rounds 2 & 3 and complete second leg same as the first. Fasten off.
Rejoin color 2 at waist using a 4.50mm hook, work 84sc evenly along cast on edge,
sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1,
work 1 more row in sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Chain Tie - With 4.50mm hook and color 1 ch130. Fasten off.
Using color 1, make 2 pom poms, I used the Clover Pom Pom maker

Finishing - Close small gap on crotch, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim,
turn through to RS.
Thread chain tie through alternate stitches at waist, attach a pom pom to each end
and tie in a bow.
