100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Pomegranate (1083) Colour 2
5.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hook
3 novelty buttons

TENSION - 5tr and 2 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 5.00mm hook

Cardigan - (Worked in one piece, starting with yoke)
Using 5.00mm hook and colour 2 make 55ch, (WS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into
the next 6ch’s (front), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch’s (shoulder), 3tr into
next ch, 1tr into the next 17ch’s (back), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch’s.
(shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch’s (front). Fasten off. Turn.
(60tr + 3ch)
Join in colour 1
2nd Row - (Inc Row) Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to next 3tr group, 1tr into next
tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into
next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to 3ch to turn with, work
1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (68tr + 3ch)
3rd to 6th Row - rpt 2nd Row. Turn. (100tr + 3ch)
7th Row - (Increase & Divide for Armholes) - Make 3ch, 1tr in next tr, * 2tr into
next tr, 1tr into next tr,* rpt from * to * to centre tr of the first 3tr group,
2tr into centre tr, make 1ch, miss next 20tr, 1tr into centre tr of next 3tr group,
rpt from * to * to centre of next 3tr group, make 1ch, miss next 20tr, rpt from *
to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch, Turn. (89tr, 2, 1ch spaces + 3ch)
8th Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 21tr, 1dc into 1ch space,
1dc into each of next 46tr, 1dc into 1ch space, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. (92dc)
Change to 4.50mm hook.
Commence Skirt - Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1dc * (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into
next dc, miss 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc.
Turn. (30 groups)
Row 2 - 5ch, * (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into centre tr of group, 2ch, * rpt from * to * to
last group and dc, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into centre tr of group, 2ch, 1tr into dc. Turn.
Row 3 - (group row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 2ch, work * (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into
next 2ch space between dc’s, miss 2ch, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc into 3rd of
5ch. Turn.
Rpt Rows 2 & 3 until 9 group rows have been worked or work measures 10.5 Inches from
shoulder. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in colour 2 and work Rows 2 & 3 once. Fasten off.
Sleeves x 2 - With WS facing and 5.00mm hook, rejoin colour 1 to side of tr at base
of armhole, work 3ch, 1tr into same space, 1tr into each of the next 20tr, 2tr into
side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn.
(23tr + 3ch)
Next Round - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on
beginning of round. Turn. (24dc)
Change to 4.50mm hook.
Round 1 - Make 1ch, * (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into base of 1ch, miss 2dc, * rpt from * to
* to last 2dc, miss 2dc, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (8 groups)
Round 2 - 5ch, * (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into centre tr of group, 2ch, * rpt from * to *
to end, ss to 3rd of 5ch on beginning of round. Turn
Round 3 - (group round) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 2ch, work * (1dc, 3tr, 1dc)
into next 2ch space between dc’s, miss 2ch, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first
dc on beginning of round. Turn.
Rpt Rounds 2 & 3 until 5 group rounds have been worked or sleeve seam measures approx
4.5 inches. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in colour 2 and work Rounds 2 & 3 once. Fasten off.
Coat Edging - With RS facing, colour 2 and starting at lower edge on first front,
work 42dc evenly along to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck to
next corner, 3dc into corner, 42dc evenly down second front edge to end. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row
once. Fasten off.
Buttonholes - (Written for a girl, swap sides for a boy) Return to first front edge,
with WS facing and working from neck edge downwards rejoin colour 2 to first dc,
work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, work 1dc into each of next
6dc, * rpt from * to * once, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end.
Fasten off.
Chain Tie - With 4.50mm hook and colour 2 make 130ch. Fasten off.
Using colour 2, make 2 pom poms, I used the Clover Pom Pom maker size 25
Finishing - Close small gap under both armholes, weave in and trim off any loose
ends of yarn, turn through to RS, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes,
thread chain tie through alternate tr's underarms, attach pom pom to each end and
tie in a bow.
Short Pants - With 5.00mm hook and colour 2, make 84ch, ss to first ch to form a
round, change to 4.50mm hook, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to
end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (84dc)
Next Round - Make 1ch, work (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 2dc, (1dc, 3tr,
1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss 2dc, ss to first dc on beginning
of row. Turn. (28 groups).
Rpt Pattern Rounds 2 & 3 from sleeves until 8 group rounds have been worked or work
measures 6 Inches from waist. Turn.
Legs - Work Pattern Round 2 over next 14 groups, ss to 3rd of 5ch on beginning of
round. Turn.
Work Pattern Round 3 once. Turn.
Work Pattern Rounds 2 & 3 once. Fasten off.
You can rpt more Pattern Rounds for longer legs if you wish.
Return and rejoin yarn into space between the 2 groups at the division of legs, continue
with Pattern Rounds 2 & 3 and complete second leg same as the first. Fasten off.
Rejoin colour 2 at waist using a 4.50mm hook, work 84dc evenly along cast on edge,
ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch,
work 1 more row in dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Chain Tie - With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 130ch. Fasten off.
Using colour 1, make 2 pom poms, I used the Clover Pom Pom maker

turn through to RS.
Thread chain tie through alternate stitches at waist, attach a pom pom to each end
and tie in a bow.
