120 grams of King Cole Melody DK in Color 1

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Color 2

4.25oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in Color 1

3.5oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in Color 2

4.50mm crochet hook

3 buttons, 1.5mtrs of 6mm wide ribbon (approx)


GAUGE - 5dc and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Coat - Worked in one piece, starting with yoke.


Using color 1 ch55, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in the next ch5’s (Front), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch’s (shoulder), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 19ch’s (Back), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch’s. (shoulder), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 7ch’s (Front). Turn. (60dc + ch3)


2nd Row - (Inc Row) ch3, * 1dc in each dc to next 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in centre dc of 3dc group, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in centre dc of 3dc group, 1dc in each dc to end, work 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (68dc + ch3)

 

3rd to 8th Row - rpt 2nd Row. Turn. (116dc + ch3)

 

9th Row - (Divide for Armholes and Inc) - ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * twice, 2dc in centre dc of 3dc group, ch1, skip 24dc, (armhole) rpt from * to * 9 more times, 2dc in centre dc of 3dc group, ch1, skip 24dc, (armhole) rpt from * to * to end, working last dc in top of ch3. Fasten off. Turn. (86dc, 2, ch1 spaces + ch3)


Commence Skirt - Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and ch1 space under arms to end. Turn. (89sc)


Pattern Row 1 - ch4, skip 1sc, 1ps (see abbrev) in next sc, * ch1, skip 1sc, 1dc in next sc, ch1, skip 1sc, 1ps in next sc, * rpt from * to * (using ch1 spaces underarms as a sc) to last 2sc, ch1, skip 1sc, 1dc in last sc. Turn.


Pattern Row 2 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to last ch4, 1sc in ch4 space, 1sc in 3rd of ch4. Turn. (89sc)


Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 17 rows have been worked in all from yoke or work measures approx 11 inches from shoulder. Fasten off.


Sleeves x 2 - Join color 1 to side of dc under arm, ch3, work 1dc in same space, 1dc in each of next 24dc, 2dc in side of dc under arm on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (27dc + ch3)


2nd Row - Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (28sc)


3rd Row - ch4, skip 1sc, * 1ps in next sc, ch1, skip 1sc, 1dc in next sc, ch1, * rpt from * to * last 3sc, skip 1sc, 1ps in next sc, ch1, skip 1sc, sl st to 3rd of ch4 on beginning of row. Turn.


4th Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (28sc)


Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows until 13 rows have been worked in all from yoke or underarm seam measures approx 5 inches. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in color 1 and starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Button/Buttonhole Bands - With RS facing, join color 1 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 43sc evenly in row ends up first front edge to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch around neck to next corner, 3sc in corner, work 43sc evenly in row ends down second front edge to corner. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to corner. Turn.


Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.


Buttonhole Row - Join color 1 to neck edge on opposite front, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each of next 8sc, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to end. Turn. Starting with ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gap under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes, make ribbon bows and add to fronts for decoration.


Pants - Using color 1, ch92, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch3, (RS) 1dc in each ch to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (91dc + ch3)

 

Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Row 2 until 14 rows have been worked or work measures approx 6.5 Inches from beginning. Turn.


Divide for legs - ch3, 1dc in each of next 45dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row, turn leaving remaining 46dc un-worked


Rpt Row 2 until 10 rows have been worked from division or work measures approx 11 Inches from waist. Fasten off.

 

Second Leg - Return to un-worked 46dc at division, join yarn to next dc, ch3, continue in the same way as first leg. Fasten off.


Waistband - With RS of work facing, starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 92sc evenly along cast on edge at waist to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row by working 1sc in each sc to end and sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off, thread ribbon through alternate dc's on waist and through the 9th row of dc's on bottom of legs.
