140 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Colour 1

50 grams of King Cole Tinsel in Colour 2

4.00mm crochet hook

3 novelty buttons


TENSION - 5tr and 2.5 rows of tr's measures approx 1 Inch

Coat is worked in one piece starting from yoke


With 4.00mm hook and colour 1 make 57ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch, (front) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 19ch, (back) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch. (front) Turn. (62tr + 3ch)


Rows 2 to 10 - (Inc Rows) Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch.


You should have 134tr + 3ch at the end of Row 10.


Row 11 - (Divide for Armholes) Make 3ch, 1tr into each tr to centre tr of 3tr group, 2tr into centre tr, miss 28tr, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each tr to centre tr of next 3tr group, 2tr into centre tr, miss 28tr, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (82tr + 3ch)


Row 12 - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end. Turn.


Rpt Row 12 until 22 rows have been worked from beginning or work measures approx 10 inches from shoulder. Turn.


Button Loop Row - Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to 3ch to turn with, 3dc into top of 3ch, working up first front edge work 1dc into the space of 3ch to turn with, 2dc into each of next 13 row ends * make 24ch, 2dc into each of next 4 row ends, * rpt from * to * once, make 24ch, 2dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck to next corner, 2dc into corner, 2dc into each row end down second front edge to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (3 button loops made).


Sleeves x 2 - With RS side facing join colour 1 to side of tr under arm with a ss, make 3ch, 1tr into same space, 1tr into each of next 28tr, 1tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, miss 3ch on beginning of row, ss to first tr. Turn. (30tr)


Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, miss 3ch, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row until 20 rows have been worked from beginning or under arm sleeve seam measures approx 4.5 inches. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (30dc)


Cuff Edge - With WS facing join colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. Turn.


Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Collar - With WS facing join in colour 2 to neck edge, 3ch, 1tr into the next 7dc, 3tr into next dc, 1tr into next 8dc, 3tr into next dc, 1tr into the next 19dc, 3tr into next dc, 1tr into the next 8dc, 3tr into next dc, 1tr into the next 8dc. Turn. (62tr + 3ch)


Second Row - Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to centre tr on 3tr group, 3tr into centre tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Rpt Second Row once. Fasten off.


Front and Bottom Edge - With WS facing join colour 2 to neck edge on button hole loop side, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc down first front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of coat to next corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc up second front edge to neck. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around coat to end, working 3dc into each corner.


Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, sew on novelty buttons to correspond with button loops.


Hat - With colour 1 make 72ch loosely, ss to first ch to form a ring, 3ch, (RS) 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each ch to end, miss 3ch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. Turn. (72tr)


Next Round - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, miss 3ch, ss to first tr on beginning of round. Turn.


Rpt last round until 18 rounds have been worked or work measures approx 7.5 Inches from beginning. Turn.


Next Round - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (72dc)


Join in colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Finishing - With WS facing centre slip stitch seam to back of hat, ss loosely the cast on edge together (top of hat) to close the open gap.


Weave in any loose ends of yarn and turn through to right side, fold approx 2 Inches onto front of hat to make a brim. Make 2 small sized pom-poms in colour 1, I used the Clover Pom-Pom maker size 45 attach one Pom-Pom to each corner and secure tightly.
