3.50mm Crochet Hook, 3 Small buttons

Approx 50cm of 6mm wide satin ribbon in contrast color


GAUGE - 5 dc & 2 rows of dc measures 1 Inch

Cardigan - Worked in one piece starting with yoke and using main color yarn,

with 3.50mm hook ch49, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (46dc + ch3)


Row 2 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in 1st dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc,

* rpt from * to * to ch3, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (57dc +ch3).


Row 3 - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Row 4 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc

* rpt from * to * to last dc and ch3, 2dc in dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (76dc +ch3)


Row 5 - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Row 6 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc

* rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (101dc + ch3)


Row 7 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end. Turn. (102sc).


Row 8 - (Inc Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next sc, * 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 2sc * rpt from * to * to last sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (135sc)


Commence Skirt - ch3, 1dc in each of next 2sc, * skip 1sc, 1cl (see abbrev), ch1, 1cl in next sc, skip 1sc, 1dc in each of next 3sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (22, cl groups). Fasten off.


Next row - (Divide for armholes) Join in contrast color and ch3, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 1 cl group (see abbrev) in ch1 space of next cl group, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * once, 1cl group in ch1 space of next cl group, 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, ch1  skip next 5cl groups and 1dc,  2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, rpt from * to * 5 times, 1cl group in ch1 space of next cl group, 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, ch1, skip 5cl groups and 1dc, 2dc in next single dc, 1dc in next dc, rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (12cl groups).     


Next row -  ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 1cl group in cl group, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * twice, 1cl group in ch1 space underarm, 1dc in each of next 3dc, rpt from * to * 6 times, 1cl group in ch1 space underarm, 1dc in each of next 3dc, rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (14, cl groups).


Pattern Row - ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 1cl group in next cl group, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (14, cl groups).


The last row forms the pattern rpt until 8 rows have been worked in all from yoke

or cardigan measures approx 7 Inches from shoulder. Fasten off.


Rpt Pattern Row once in main color and once in contrast color. Fasten off.

You should now have 10 cluster rows worked from yoke.


Sleeves x 2 - With 3.50mm hook and WS facing, rejoin contrast color yarn to side of dc at base of armhole where you divided, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 1cl group in

ch1 space of next cl group, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last cl group, 1cl group in ch1 space of last cl group, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in side of dc on the opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

(5cl groups).


Next row - sl st to first dc, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 1cl group in ch1 space of next cl group, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last cl group, 1cl group in ch1 space of last cl group, 1dc in next dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Next row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 1cl group in ch1 space of next cl group, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last cl group, 1cl group in ch1 space of last cl group, 1dc in next dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Continue with last row until 7 cluster rows in all have been worked

from yoke or sleeve seam measures approx 3 Inches. Turn. Fasten off.


Cuff - With WS facing and main color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next dc, * skip 1cl, 1sc in ch1 space of cl group, skip 1cl, 1sc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last sc in last dc,

sl st to first sc. Turn. (20sc).


Next row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. Rpt last row 2 more times until 4 sc rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.


Front Edging - With 3.50mm hook, main color yarn, RS facing and starting at lower edge on right hand side of cardigan, work 2sc in each row end up right front, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each stitch around neck, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row end down left front of cardigan, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each dc, cl and ch1 space along the bottom of cardigan, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Next Row - (buttonhole) ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc along bottom of cardigan, up the left front, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc around neck to right hand front corner, 1sc in corner, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 5sc, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in remaining sc, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc. Turn. (3 buttonholes made).


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and ch space to neck edge. Fasten off.


Return to first side at neck edge (button-band) and working downwards down front edge, ch1, 1sc into base of ch1, 1sc into each sc to end. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gap underarms, sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through alternate dc's on Row 5 of yoke and tie with a bow.
